Childish Lies (A Poem)

Race Car Champion Frank Lies…no relation to the act

Push the hair away from

Your almond eyes

See what your words have wrought

See the product of your childish lies!

Even the manliest of hearts do hum

Listen to your suitors’ furtive cries

Spare a thought

‘Tis by your cruel affections that they die

Your empty promises continue to come

While shattered hearts continue to deny

That your words mean naught

That your kisses mean nothing but “goodbye”

Wicked girl, you seem so numb

To the sadness and the sighs

That from these men your words brought

Oh what folly and wasted love came from your childish lies!
