Momento Vivere (A Poem)

I am a hedonist and

I feel as though you

Think less of me for it

You show me grey tombs

And such dour places

And ask me to sacrifice

My senses and my emotions

“Spare a thought for the dead”

I am told

“Have you no care for the dead?”

I reply that I am not moved by death

But life does nothing but

Inspire awe in me
