A Personal Update On My Art

After a few solid weeks of writers block I have finally begun to write once more. I am working on my novel, some poems and of course this blog. I am also consolidating my poetry from the past 6 years into a large volume that will include poems I have published on this blog and many more that have never seen the outside of my notebooks. The work will be entitled “A Breeze” and will have well over 100 poems. The cover will be created by my goof friend the artist Jessica Rue.

(here is her website if you want to check out her excellent and thought provoking work )

I am also publishing my first complete play “Don Juan or Comeuppance” a comedy of errors set in 17th century Wales. I am also feeling out ways of getting this work performed live in Chicago or in the suburbs or surrounding states in the midwest. If anyone out there is interested in this project please send me a message and I can send you a digital copy of the work! I am also working on finishing a long term project of mine, a play I will call “The Greek Project” for secrecy’s sake. It is an epic tragedy and I hope someday to see it performed. I am also finishing the family drama “The Allentown Reformation”, a play about how secrets and religious differences can tear apart a family. I am also working on putting out a collection of my essays on politics and economics under the title “Letters Concerning A New Socialism”.

I of course am also continuing work on my novellas “Liberta” and “The Dream of Father Pagomari” and my novel I will call “The German Project” for secrecy’s sake. I hope to be finished with the novellas by next summer and the novel by 2015.

My self published books “Libertarianism & Democracy” and “Fear & Faith” are selling better then I ever thought possible and I really have you my readers and subscribers to thank for that. If anyone is interested in purchasing a copy here are the links:

Fear & Faith — Price $5

I hope all my readers are well! I look forward to putting out these projects and to hearing from all of you regarding them and whatever projects you all have going on!

A Note On My Dreams

The dreams I have are strange and disconcerting, often consisting of a straightforward narrative that starts with a family gathering, moves to a falling out with or rejection by my family, and then a period where I wander about the dreamscape, often a large event or place like a mall or hotel or amusement park, usually with a small animal or child in tow that I must care for. Feelings of abandonment and fear are common in these dreams. The world itself seems hostile and the actions of my family re-enforce this narrative. It is usually my father and my mother and occasionally my maternal grandmother who ostracize and verbally abuse me. When the rejection comes it is usually as a result of my being in some sort of need, material, emotional or otherwise. They reject my need and condemn me for being a “demanding” or “needy” person who does nothing but burden and frustrate them.  It is around this time that the small animal/child appears in my arms or at my side and I must wander about with it in the landscape of my dream, looking for assistance or at least comfort. The feeling of being watched and judged builds as I continue through the landscape becoming ever more and more scared and frustrated. This usually culminates in the dream losing focus and becoming more and more a wandering fable of rejection and misinterpretation. The dreams ends with me waking up, usually in the mid to late morning, and feeling alone and abandoned.

Atheism, poetry

There is no after life my friends
Nothing after this one ends
No hell in which to descend

Enjoy the fleeting pleasures of
Sex, adventure, wine and love
There is no paradise above

Heaven is empty cold and bleak
Lacking all that humans seek
Its charms over all are quite weak

There is nothing in myths or creeds
Nothing in what god decrees
All truth lies in acts and deeds

So I beseech you humanity
Look about you and you’ll see
The heaven that’s reality

Activism, poetry, War

Failing Towards Right

If there is warfare or if there is peace
I’ll stand for the people forced on their knees
For profit, pleasure assaulted and beat

There’s nothing moral in shots to the head
In making sure those we hate are all dead
There’s nothing a gun screams that cannot be said

Words are the weapons that kill over time
Schemes planted find their fruition in crime
Horrors inspired by prayer books and rhymes

The truly evil can look quite benign
With faces that look like yours or like mine
Not what the devil would seem to design

Remember my friends that hate is a mirror
Reflecting our own pain and deepest fears
Charge sin to others and end up in arrears

Success may seem to be rooted in might
There is nothing wrong in failing towards right
Losing the battle but learning to fight
